Tracking, Hacking, Searching

Very few of us have opted not to use the Internet and stay in relative anonymity, but just how vulnerable are we to excessive sharing of information? My grandfather would never have suspected the speeding ticket he was issued in 1939 for going 42 in a 30 mph zone would appear in public records forever, but I just found a a newspaper clipping that does just that.
